Description

Like the band's best work, Hail to the Thief requires more than a few listens to fully appreciate, but those who stick around will be richly rewarded. There are so many delicious melodies here, so much that's both soothing and twisted and catchy, so much to sing along with, even if our prognosis is grim. They recorded most of 'Hail to the Thief' in two weeks in Los Angeles with longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, focusing on live takes rather than overdubs.

I know there's some confusion as to which release sounds the best, who pressed what when, etc, but if you can get your hands on this 2021 re-issue, you're on the true path. one of the most acclaimed concept albums of all time, 'the wall' from 1979 is renowned as roger waters' rock opera dealing with. I know a few people who didn't get on with this album initially, but after hearing it on LP have got in to it and now love it! Imagine a more subtle I Might Be Wrong; would make a good single along with Sail to the Moon, Where I End. Although I am disappointed, the sound is otherwise great, and I do not have the patience or extra cash to play the "get me a perfect sealed copy" lottery. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Myxomatosis is a dull electronic experiment that doesn't come off, still better to fail than to petrify in retro ooze. Yorke's writings and interviews have also spoken in the past of infiltrating "dark forces", eliciting a sharp response from British prime ministerial mouthpiece Alistair Campbell. Cassandra warned about Greeks bearing gifts, but her advice went unheeded and the Trojan Horse duly wrought death and destruction. After transitioning to a more electronic style on their albums Kid A (2000) and Amnesiac (2001), recorded through protracted studio experimentation, Radiohead sought to work more spontaneously, combining electronic and rock music.

Yorke's voice has never been better and the stark mechanisms of Kid A and Amnesiac have come to some kind of accommodation with melody. Originally released in 1973, The Dark Side Of The Moon became Pink Floyd's first number one album in the USA, remaining on the chart for 741 weeks between 1973 and 1988. Bruce Springsteen's first new studio album in five years takes his music to a new place, drawing inspiration in part from the Southern California pop records of the late '60s and early '70s. Its title implies that this is a collection filled with songs of anger and dissent, but Radiohead no longer howl at the moon like they did on 1995's The Bends . Radiohead’s ‘everything but the kitchen sink’ album, Hail to the Thief saw the obstinate Oxonians leaving behind a fair bit of the bleakness of the Kid A and Amnesiac period in favour of a lighter, rockier style.

I think (I hope) most Radiohead fans like to play albums from beginning to end in one - touted as a companion piece to OK Computer this album has highs and lows but throughout maintains the bands emotional and eclectic sound whilst immersing the listener in a deep well of transcendental alt. There's still room for hope, Yorke seems to be saying; there's still time to wake up and take charge of our lives rather than living at the disposal of dubiously motivated leaders, corporations and conglomerates. If you hear glitchy noises in the beginning, it's how the first song, 2 + 2 = 5, sounds at the start of it!
