Mr Parry-Jones said: "That attempted suicide was a particularly dangerous one for him, because he was found on a motorway. Shooters was first shown on Channel 4 in 2000 and was a dark mix of fiction and reality, set around the murky Liverpool underworld. He said no electricity had been abstracted at the property and there was no evidence of the fire being started by "bad wiring". Shooters became a cult classic and was notable for having been completely unscripted apart from a brief outline. Whilst they were fighting the fire Mr Bennett arrived, who was the occupier of the premises, with a pickup truck. Francis "Franny" Bennett shot to fame in Shooters, a gritty Channel 4 film about Liverpool's underworld, which became a cult hit. Fists, boots and bullets fly in the film but in one scene we learn that one of our characters bites the ear off a gang member "from the crew in Manny".

The judge handed Bennett eight months in prison, suspended for two years, plus a six-month Drug Rehabilitation Requirement. This is what a gangster movie should be like, not little softies like that Statham bloke who seems to be appearing on every tough guy movie. fair enough it never cost much money but its not the point i bought the dvd shooters but instead i got a dvd about some old rock band on tour! And no, it doesn’t glamorise the gangster lifestyle – we’re talking roid raging, coke-addled, mostly unlikeable idiots here. I'll not go into it here but it was an exceptionally honest, Brutal portrayal of Working Class criminality within the inner cities of any City in Britain ! But when the big man later gets linked to the drug-related death of a rival gangster, things begin to get out of hand. He started loading packages and plants into that pickup and in fact it was on his third visit to the house that police arrived and detained him.
