The presets reference the sounds of a ’65 Twin plus a compressor, a ’65 Deluxe, a tweed Twin, a Vox AC30, a ’65 Deluxe driven by an Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer, a Marshall Super Lead, a Mesa Dual Rectifier, a Fender Bassbreaker, Friedman BE-100 and a Bogner Uberschall. Mustang Micro is a complete personal guitar amplifier featuring a wide selection of tones from the wildly popular Mustang series amps. They’re both more fully featured- which backfired for me because I just want a dead simple device for practice.

And there are a dozen amp models and another effects combinations to allow you to dial in the tone that most inspires you. We were happy to discover that we could also plug the Mustang Micro into the output of a pedalboard, where it responded like an actual amp when driven by analog overdrive and fuzz pedals.

I keep one in a gig bag, and I also switch between two of them for serious practicing (technique and learning new songs). I've spent far too long sitting playing unplugged in the living room, partly due to keeping the noise down with a young child in bed and partly due to the inconvenience of setting up and moving about even a small practice amp. And that is good because you don’t want to, um, for, for the sort of younger players, haven’t played as long. I also imagine I’ll do more traveling this year (finally), and this little amp offers everything I need on the go.

It has a big volume knob on top and four sets of buttons on the side that let you adjust amp, equalizer, and effects settings. The comprehensive controls on this amp allow you to choose your amp's voice and any effects you want to use, and you can even hook up your mobile device via Bluetooth, allowing you to play along with your favourite tracks or instructional videos. So you can plug your headphones in, uh, you can connect it to Bluetooth, play music, like fender, play lessons, or YouTube lessons, or just song you’re trying to learn along with you.Whether you use the Fender Mustang Micro as a practice tool, for playing along with tunes streaming via Bluetooth, or as a quick and easy audio interface for recording your guitar, prepare to be amazed at the level of feel and tone Fender has crammed into this tiny package. It all sounds superb and the EQ presets help to tame the high gain models from getting too fizzy, but honestly we were taken aback at how much quality is on access wherever you are. So if the ability to change patches with a foot switch or to use a looper are required, he would be better with a floor FX unit like the GT-1.

But driven by the same amp and effects modelling technology found across Fender’s Mustang series, the Mustang Micro does an exceptional job of giving you a tone that’s fun and inspiring.Gear is subjective – we all gravitate to different things, sometimes surprisingly when it’s something we didn’t expect to like. Grab whatever electric guitar you have laying around, throw the Mustang Micro and some headphones in a pocket or a backpack, and you really can play—with surprisingly good tone—anywhere. also, I can still use my whammy bar, even though I have it, it headphone cable kind of wrapped around. I usually link it to my PC via Bluetooth and I can play along to any of my records or anything on the internet.

Fender have recent form for breaking new ground to answer that question with an affirmative: Fender Play successfully tackles the question of how to keep new players. At the end of your contract when you've made your final payment, the instrument or equipment is all yours. The only problem I have found is that you have to wrap the earphone or headphone cord around the back of the guitar when you play. I understand that my information will be shared with the dealer and may be used by the dealer to facilitate this contact. You can also record your guitar tones with or without a Bluetooth audio stream to your preferred recording system by using Mustang Micro’s USB-C output.I was hesitating this and between Boss Waza air, but the tonal quality and effects exceeded my expectation, so I didnt regret that. MusicRadar verdict: Practical and fun, with a great range of tones, the Mustang Micro is the guitar amp that allows you to play anytime, anywhere, and it is one of the best practice tools on the market.
